Three Common Mattress Problems and the Affordable Solutions
Sleeping with lots of discomfort can be frustrating and annoying. A night of restful sleep is what we look forward to after a long, exhausting day. When we encounter a lot of problems even during sleep, it affects our mood and the result can last even until the next morning when we wake up.
Mattresses aren’t exactly cheap, but a mattress store in Salt Lake City and other cities all over the country offers affordable types to solve your sleeping problems. You don’t have to shell out a big amount to have a comfortable sleep.
Here are the common problems encountered with mattresses, along with affordable solutions.
Sagging
A mattress sag is a crater-like dip over a mattress that you may notice in your coil spring mattress. Sags commonly happen because of the sleeper’s weight or the mattress’ poor quality. When you sleep on one side only and not move around too much, the compression in the padding layers accelerates, wearing out the steel coil springs.
Firmness and improper support issues contribute to the mattress’ easily sagging, so you need to choose a mattress with firmness and sturdiness that will work best for you. Consider your weight, size, body type, and other factors when choosing a firm mattress. Support is another thing; this means the mattress’ ability to keep your spine in proper alignment. In addition, consider the mattress’ thickness. For heavier sleepers, a thickness of 10-inch or more would be ideal.
Memory foam or latex foam mattresses are good for heavy and large sleepers. They offer sufficient firmness and support, with a feature that takes on the shapes and contours of the body, although memory foam does it more prominently than latex. For a more rounded contour, latex would be the ideal choice, while memory foam is for a sharper contour. Most memory and latex foams are pricey, but there are affordable varieties available.
Pain in the Neck and/or Back
Mattresses with poor support features can cause or aggravate neck and back pain. Choosing the mattress type that alleviates these problems is important, especially if the pain is worsening.
There are no imposed rules on choosing mattresses to relieve body pain because it all depends on the sleeper’s choice, but knowing some features of particular bed types could help narrow down the options.
Memory foam and gel memory foam mattresses are the most popular types for people who frequently experience pain in their sleep. The famous feature of the memory foam that hugs the sleeper’s figure as they sleep distributes the weight evenly, so the pressure isn’t felt by the sleeper.
Gel memory foam is a variety of memory foam that provides coolness for the sleeper. It has the same properties and features as the regular memory foam, but the cooling effect it brings makes it a slightly better option, especially if you prefer a cold night’s sleep. Like regular memory foam, gel varieties also come at affordable prices.
Annoyingly hot and sweaty sleep
Non-breathable mattress types are among the causes of a hot sleep. Thankfully, there are many other types of mattresses that can give anyone a cooler and better sleep. Traditional spring coil mattresses are breathable because the air passes easily around the coils under the padding. The spring coils do not absorb body heat, unlike memory foam that retains the body heat as it absorbs it; therefore, bringing in a warmer sleep. However, bear in mind that most spring coils are made with foam, memory foam included.
100% latex foam is also a great choice to avoid hot sleep. It isn’t a good heat conductor and it feels the same no matter the temperature. Most latex foams are aerated and this feature allows more airflow. Blended and/or synthetic latex can offer the same feature, though 100% latex is of higher quality.
With these common problems discussed, you’d now have a better understanding as to why you sleep so uncomfortably. Affordable options are now available, so show your body some love by replacing your problematic mattress with something that will provide the comfort you need.
